Children & Family Activities

We at First United Methodist Church seek to offer a variety of study and fellowship activities for children that compliment the efforts of parents in nurturing their growth as Christian disciples. We see Christian education
of children as primarily the responsibility of the home and family. It is in
the Christian home and family that children most effectively experience
and learn Christian concepts in daily living - where those concepts are modeled.

We urge parents to read Bible stories to their children, place Christian reading materials in their hands, share prayers at mealtime and devotional times, and help children know how to relate to God, to people, and to situations as Christ’s disciples.

Through our children and family activities at First UMC, we seek to
support the learning in the home - to lead children to Christian attitudes and actions. We are here to serve you. Please let us know how we can best be in ministry to you and your child. Our Christian Education Director is Kelly Brooks. Call (243.5646 x16) or email her with your questions.

Children’s Sunday School

For our Sunday school program at First UMC, the children share in prayer, Bible lessons, arts and crafts, music, and snacks. (In an effort to accommodate children with nut allergies, First UMC has a “no-nut, no peanut” policy. We also want to accommodate any other allergies your child may have, so please let us know.)

Sunday school classes start at 9:40am in each classroom and end at 10:40am. We ask that parents pick up their children promptly after class so that our Sunday school teachers may continue with the rest of their morning.
