Safe Sanctuaries
The Governing Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church defines Safe Sanctuaries as "an overt expression of a congregation in making a congregation a safe place where children and youth may experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith."
Safe Sanctuaries Policy
The goal of this policy is to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all
children, youth, and vulnerable adults attending First UMC functions, and to
protect First UMC employees and volunteers while they provide programs and activities.
The purpose of this document is to define the required safeguards, the policy,
and procedures, that will help ensure a safe, healthy and nurturing environment
for all of First UMC’s congregants.
