The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States. Our mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people. UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own.

Family Promise of Albuquerque visit site
First UMC belongs to Family Promise of Albuquerque, a coalition of local churches that take turns providing temporary housing for one week during each eleven-week cycle for families who have recently become homeless. When it is First UMC’s turn to host the families, we ask volunteers to help with preparing evening meals, driving the van, and acting as evening, overnight, and weekend hosts.


Be A Hero
Several times a year, United Blood Services visits First UMC. You are encouraged to stop by the United Blood Services bus in our parking lot from  8:00am – 12:30pm and donate blood. Love INC

Love In The Name Of Christ is a non profit program that First UMC has partnered with to help meet the needs of those in our community. The mission of Love INC is to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ. It is our goal to bring to Albuquerque a proven strategy to help churches help their neighbors in need.
