Mission Outreach

Shadow of the Church

The Shadow of the Church is the Mission Outreach Team for First United Methodist Church. We support many mission projects around the city and state. Projects include Healthcare for the Homeless, The Storehouse, South Albuquerque Cooperative Ministry, street side porta-potties in cooperation with Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and many Albuquerque District projects. We meet every other month starting in January. For the most part we are self sufficient. We are not a line item on the church’s budget. For more information call the Church Office at 243-5646 or Dave Pietz at 242-5109.

Grace Meal

For approximately 18 years First United Methodist Church has opened its doors to the hungry. Every Monday at 12:00 noon, volunteers (with the exception of the dishwasher) gather to serve between 275 and 350 meals. Many volunteers are needed in preparing, serving, and clean-up. If you are interested in serving in this vital ministry, call Art Cochrane at 265-4303.

Project Angel Tree

Project Angel Tree is a ministry to the children of men and women who are incarcerated. Project Angel Tree provides an opportunity for these children to receive a Christmas gift "from their incarcerated parent." For more information contact the Church Office at 243-5646.

We work to keep the food pantry stocked so that nonperishable items can be provided to those in need. Food drive Sunday is the First Sunday of each month.
