First Cornerstone will once again be awarding one or more Whipple Scholarships to college or graduate students who are active members of First United Methodist Church. Join us for Lay Servant School! Lay Servant School is for anyone seeking to become a Certified Lay Servant in the United Methodist Church. Basic and Advanced classes are available. Follow the journeys of Paul, beginning with his dramatic conversion, as he spread the Gospel through modern-day Greece and Turkey. Travel to the early church sites and explore Paul’s conversations with the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians. In this six-week study, you are invited to experience faith through Christ’s greatest teacher and missionary. Class will begin Tuesday, April 17, 2018 and run each Tuesday through May 22, 2018. Community of Hope worships and eats together every Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm in the Fellowship Hall (“Old Sanctuary”) of First UMC. Join us for worship, or join us in the kitchen to help serve lunch… or both! Community of Hope
Hospitality Ministry This newly created ministry area will have its inaugural gathering Sunday, January 21st, at 11:45am (after morning worship). Lunch will be provided. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Grace Meal This core ministry that has been in place for decades serving lunch every Monday to upwards of 200 people. Opportunities to volunteer abound throughout the morning, during lunch over the noon hour, and we always need some clean-up help after we shut down at 1pm. [Grace Meal will re-open on January 8th.] Studies and Small Groups Intercessory Prayer will continue, but begin earlier at 11:00am on Tuesdays (resuming January 9th). New studies will be led by John Milholland and Pastor Jon Moore, including A Disciple’s Heart and a Pastor-led study of the Book of Revelation. Stay tuned for dates, times, and additional topics. And, As Always, Sunday Morning If you’re a visitor or guest with us, you’re invited to join us on Sunday mornings. We have Sunday School for all ages at 9:15am, and worship at 10:30am.
