Information for Visitors
If you are new to the Albuquerque, NM, area or are interested in learning more about First United Methodist Church, we hope this web site will introduce you to the many wonderful things our church has to offer to individuals and the community.
The location page includes driving directions, parking information and will tell you which doors will get you inside. Once inside, you will either be in the reception area (Dillon Reception Area) next to the sanctuary where we worship, or you will be in the entry hall (Narthex) at the rear (north entrance) of the sanctuary. Either way, there will be someone there to welcome you and help you find your way around.
We have two main worship services on Sunday mornings. If you would like to
learn more about each of the two morning services is like, and what to
expect,
please
visit
our Contemporary Worship (8:30am) and Traditional
Worship (11:00am) pages.
We think there are several things First UMC does exceptionally well. One is our music ministry. The quality of music at our church is important to us. The music we enjoy each week, and at special performances, very much enhances the worship experience and makes our time together so enjoyable.
Another quality many of our members and guests mention is that First UMC is a friendly church. It's not just the assigned "greeters" who make you feel welcome. You will almost always find that people sitting near you will notice that you are new and will make a special point to greet you. They don't do this because they have to, but because they want to and are genuinely interested. We don't ask guests to stand up or identify themselves during the worship service, and we won't put a tag on you - we know those practices could be potentially embarrassing. But you won't leave First UMC feeling that no one noticed you or cared. It's a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Once you're a regular guest or member, you'll also find many opportunities to get to know others in fellowship groups.
First UMC also ministers to the community. You can see on our mission outreach page, that we have several projects in place to reach out to our community to help those in need and make them feel welcome as well. These opportunities not only assist those in our community, they mean a lot to the church community and staff who help support and volunteer with these efforts.
Although there are many other positive aspects to our church, we feel that those probably best represent our mission statement of upreach (musical worship), inreach (fellowship) and outreach (missions).
