Wesley Kids is a non-profit and child-centered Christian learning environment providing developmentally appropriate education in a nurturing atmosphere designed to foster your child’s cognitive, spiritual, social, and physical growth. Wesley Kids is open to all the community and does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, origin, color or gender.

A Ministry for Children
Wesley Kids provides an environment where children are nurtured and experience God’s love. Each child is accepted as an individual. Our integrated approach to Christian education encourages children to discover and explore God’s world using all of their senses. Christian teachings are incorporated into all aspects of your child’s day, and a weekly worship service called "Chapel Time" is celebrated with all of the children.

Staff
Wesley Kids staff are chosen for their true love of children, their professionalism and their enthusiasm for the Early Childhood Program. They are screened and pass a criminal records check as well as passing a health check before being able to work with children. They complete a minimum of 24 hours of training a year including annual updates of CPR training and First Aid.
Some of our staff have been with us almost since Wesley Kids was created in 1992. Wesley Kids practices accreditation standards maintaining some of the lowest child to teacher ratios in Albuquerque and is a 4-star program with CYFD.

Learning by Doing
At Wesley Kids, we support the hands-on, interactive learning process by providing stimulating, developmentally appropriate materials and activities. Our program meets and exceeds the State regulations for training, adult/child ratios and teacher qualifications.

Our commitment to families ensures that parents are supported and children’s developmental needs are being met. We do this by communicating with daily reports, parent-teacher conferences, making available information concerning parent education classes and referrals to the appropriate agencies for children with special needs.

Both independence and cooperation are nurtured and teachers facilitate self-control in children by using positive guidance and redirection techniques.

The First UMC congregation is equally supportive of the various Wesley Kids activities and helps maintain our wonderful First UMC Children’s Library.

Special Activities
We include special activities such as the arts, music, and Spanish language. Dance and gymnastics are optional activities that are available at an additional cost each month.
Gross motor skills are developed with extra emphasis on outdoor play and sports. Fine motor skills are encouraged from the first moment an infant can grasp an object.

Enrollment
Children are accepted from 6 weeks of age to 5 years of age. Our infant program has spacious rooms with three infants to one caregiver ratio. Mothers who continue to nurse their babies are encouraged to drop by at any time and use the Parlor or Library.

There is a classroom for each year of age but each child is assessed individually for their developmental level before being transitioned into the next class.
The 5 year old class prepares the children academically and socially for their entry into Kindergarten.

Full and part-time options are available. Wesley Kids accepts a certain number of State Assisted Children depending on availability.

Hours of Operation
Wesley Kids is open year round except the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. We are open 5 days a week, 7.00am to 6.00pm , except for Federal holidays, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas Day and one "in-house training day" a year when we remain closed.
